Linchpin by Seth Godin – Summary and Notes

3. September 2015 By Timm Richter

This article is quite long but well written in an unusual format. Made me buy the book.

I very much like the idea that in order to be successful, you have to think of yourself as an artist. This thought is painfully missing in business and management.

For athletes, it is normal to practice hard every day. The best athletes train the hardest. Same for musicians. The great violinist Jehudi Menuhin once said:

If I don’t practise for a day, I will notice it. No practice for two days and my friends will notice. After three days without practice, the audience will notice it.

The same focus on practice is true for any artist. But managers? Us at work? Many people at work think they are out of school and don’t have to learn anymore. Think again. Or read the book.
